Ep 52: Celebrating One Year of the High School Hamster Wheel Podcast with Dr. Anna Stumpf and Jay DuSold

 October 29, 2020

In this week’s episode, I am celebrating my one year anniversary as host of the High School Hamster Wheel podcast. The past year has been more fun and more fulfilling than I could have ever imagined. And what better way to celebrate this milestone than with two of my new best friends, who also happen to be previous podcast guests, Dr. Anna Stumpf and Jay DuSold. Heads up, Jay and Anna spend a lot of time gushing about me and my podcast during this episode and the feeling is mutual. I have great respect for the work that they do in helping our teens find the path that is right for them. I am beyond grateful for the support I have received from Anna and Jay and best of all, I am now blessed to be able to call them my friends. I can say with certainty that I wouldn’t have made it through this first year without them. During our conversation, we talk about some of the topics I’ve covered over the past year and I share my “why” for leaving my corporate job and starting the podcast. A special thank you to my listeners for joining me on this journey. I hope you will stay tuned and keep listening, the best is yet to come!

About My Guests

My guests in this episode are equally as passionate as I am about helping young people discover the path that’s best for them. They’ve both been guests on the previous episodes (Anna in episode 14 and episode 31, and Jay in episode 45) and I highly recommend listening to those episodes, too.

Dr. Anna Stumpf is a self-described “edutainer” and has come to be known as the Golden Ticket Prof. After ten years in management with Wal-Mart, she earned a master of arts in teaching then spent over eight years in the high school classrooms. She earned her MBA and then went on to teach undergraduate and graduate business courses for eight years. After earning a doctorate in marketing, she now coordinates an online graduate degree program in information and communication sciences for Ball State University.

Jay DuSold lives in Pennsylvania and has been married for 26 years. He has two sons, now ages 22 and 20. When Jay’s oldest son was a junior in high school, he was trying to figure out what to do as far as a career. That thrust Jay into a whole new life work scenario, which is helping young people now figure out what to do, through his group, Life After 12th. Jay is a teen career guide and he specializes in helping young people figure out a career that they’ll love and stick with.
