 December 12, 2019

Calvalyn Day is a mother of four daughters, mimi to 4 grandsons, a former school counselor and a current coach and consultant serving schools across the country. As a preacher’s kid, service is her standard, and she combined her years of service with a love of education to author two books, Drag ‘Em Kicking and Screaming and Authentically Engaged Families. Calvalyn has a wealth of experience in working with teens, and offers valuable insights and advice for parents during our conversation. She has some great suggestions and strategies for parents to help their teens stay focused on their values and priorities as they make their way through high school. And as a special bonus, Calvalyn has provided a FREE resource titled “17 Magical Phrases to Get Your Teen Talking”.

“We have conditioned ourselves to believe that if we don’t push our children to perfection, that they will somehow be drifters through life and they will live on our sofa forever. I think that there’s a really healthy way to say that we value education in this house and I expect you to do your best in the classroom but I also expect you to have a good life. And I don’t think those things have to be mutually exclusive.” – Calvalyn Day
