Ep 8: Helping Teens Manage Anxiety with Chelsea Torres

 December 5, 2019

My guest today is Chelsea Torres, Founder of Big Bad Brainery. Chelsea is a private tutor and test prep expert turned academic coach. While tutoring students of all ages in various subjects for over 17 years, she noticed some patterns in the way academic stress was affecting teens. As a recovering straight-A student, she decided to transition her business to offer ongoing support in the form of mentoring. Because she’s also a mom of two young boys and former stepmom to teen girls, Chelsea can relate well to both the students and parents she works with!

About Chelsea and Big Bad Brainery

Chelsea started tutoring in high school and continued through college and beyond. She became a “go-to” helper for her friends when they needed help with editing papers and homework. Then, as she became a parent, Chelsea continued tutoring and found a soft spot for working with teenagers. So, she started focusing on helping teens with test prep and college admissions. As she began to notice that her students were feeling stressed and anxious, she knew she needed to shift her focus from grades and test scores to providing support and guidance in more of a mentoring role to teens.
