Ep 68: Exploring Careers in the Trades with John Geiling

In this week’s episode, I welcome John Geiling to the show. John is the President of his hugely successful company, JPG Plumbing & Mechanical Services, Inc. Whether your teen is interested in the plumbing business or another one of the trades, this episode is packed full of useful information and resources. After years of employment in the trades working for other people, John made the decision to go out on his own. As you’ll hear in our conversation, that decision has certainly paid off. John is not afraid of hard work and while he likes the money, he really loves the work. John believes that in order to be successful you must do the hardest job that nobody else wants to do. About John Geiling

John Geiling is the President of JPG Plumbing and Mechanical Services, Inc. After graduating from Bowie High School in 1983, John started in the plumbing trade in August of the same year, with the George F. Warner Company.  John btained a Master Plumber Gasfitter license in 1983 and started his first business.  He then closed his first business in 2001 to work as a Project Manager / Estimator for a large mechanical contractor on projects such as the Howard Hughes Medical Institute at Janalia Farms, the ATF Federal Lab project in Beltsville, Maryland and The FDA CDER project at White Oak Maryland.  John started JPG Plumbing & Mechanical in 2006 and has grown from a single person company to almost 100 employees. He serves on the board of the Mechanical Contractors Association of America, the Plumbing Contractors of America and The WSSC Plumbing Board. John is a voracious reader of American history and his hobbies include playing golf and fishing.  He is also an avid student of the classical guitar.
